What does it mean to preplan a funeral?
Preplanning a funeral is a sensible caring way to help you and your family. If you are considering preplanning your funeral or for a loved one you are helping everyone involved to help reduce the stress. The stress of making funeral arrangements at the time of ones demise could be one of the most difficult times for a family. By taking the time to preplan and prepay a funeral a family is helped greatly. Prepaid funerals are guaranteed never to increase in cost at Walker funeral home, are FDIC insured, excluded and protected from Medicaid* and are refundable with interest without charges or obligation.
*After Jan. 1, 1997 must be irrevocable
Walker Funeral Home offers two types of preneed contracts
1.Revocable Agreement- This agreement allows you to prepay a funeral at today’s prices and the money is placed in an interest bearing, FDIC insured account called the Preplan. Preplan is a safe well managed trust account set up exclusively for people to prepay there funeral.
2.Irrevocable Agreement- After Jan. 1, 1997 Irrevocable trust agreements were offered to allow someone to “spend down” there assets to qualify for Medicaid benefits. The funeral/burial funds you set aside will in no way count as part of your financial resources. This agreement also has the money placed in the PrePlan account.
